pau96bat63 Gabe Rojo's music as The Tape Recorders is an all encompassing aural kaleidoscope. I can discover new musical nuances & shades of sound design upon each successive listen. Like the best ambient artists from Eno to Glass, you can lose yourself in the music entirely, or put it on as background to enhance mental focus on something else, like reading, meditation, or prayer. Parallax & Gospel Rails exemplify his further musical progress in both these listening experiences and I highly recommend them. Favorite track: "Krautrock Baby" (for David Bowie).

about

Most social vices mankind claims to have left behind (vicious censorship, apartheid-like measures, suppression of individual rights) are back with a vengeance. Do we have the moral strength to turn back the tide? “Parallax” both explores and escapes from this conundrum by integrating parallel worlds, JFK, debates on synchronicity and ever-evolving synthesizer compositions into an intense emotional trip. It may not provide a definite answer, but that may be an answer in itself.

"Between the beautifully miscellaneous music and the wonderfully complex ideas (...) this record, despite its philosophical content, is an aural treat."
